P. J. Kintraia
Professor
Member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Georgia, Laureate of the State
Prize.
Was born on December 8, 1933, in Tbilisi. In 1958 he graduated from the
|
Medical Faculty of Tbilisi State
Medical Institute. In 1964 he defended the thesis for Candidate's Degree and
in 1971 the thesis for Doctor's Degree. Since 1979 he has been the Head of
the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Tbilisi Medical Academy,
Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Perinatal Medicine,
Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chairman of the Certifying
Commission in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the same time.
In 1983 Professor Kintraia was awarded the title of the Honored Scientist of
the
Republic of Georgia.
In 1985 was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of
Georgia for the creation and Introduction of the efficient organization of
medical health for the patients with sepsis in Georgia.
In 1983 Professor Kintraia was elected

the Honored Member of the
Scientific
Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Hungary, in 1989 the Member of
the European Association of Obstetricians, Gynecologists and Perinatologists
and in 1998 the Member of American College of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists.
In 1995 was elected the Member the Editorial Board of a
number of International Journals.
Professor Kintraia
is focused on the enlargement of diagnostic ability of electrophysiological
methods.
At present his main topic of research is "Stress and
Pregnancy". Psycho-emotional as well as socio-economic factors and their
influence on pregnancy and fetal development are taken into consideration.
Prematurity is also being studied. |
